How do I show the full name of a food item on the menu?
To keep the layout clean and responsive across all devices, Menu Tiger limits food item names to 23 characters by default. This prevents long names from overflowing or breaking the design, especially on smaller screens like mobile devices.
However, if your menu contains items with longer names that you want to display in full, you can enable the Display Full Food Name option in your Store Settings.
What It Does
Default Behavior (Off):
Food item names are automatically shortened to 23 characters, followed by an ellipsis (…) if the name exceeds the limit.
Enabled (On):
The full name of the food item is displayed without truncation in the customer-facing ordering interface.
Where to Enable It
To activate this feature:
- Go to the Store > Settings in your Menu Tiger dashboard.
- Find the option labeled Display Full Food Name.
- Toggle the setting On to show full item names.
This setting can be adjusted per store, allowing you to control it based on individual menu formatting needs.
Why Use It
- Ideal for menus with detailed or descriptive dish names (e.g., “Grilled Chicken with Mango Salsa”).
- Helps customers better understand what they’re ordering without needing to click on the item.
- Useful when the name itself contains key ingredients or variations that distinguish the item.
Troubleshooting
- Check which store you are editing, as the setting is store-specific.
- If the full item name is not displaying, check that:
- The Display Full Food Name setting is turned on in Store's Settings.
- The issue is not related to older cached versions of the interface.
- The customer has refreshed their browser.
- Enabling full names may affect how the layout appears on small screens.
