How do I create and manage items in my menu?
Items are the individual food and drink products that customers can order. Each item must belong to a category.
Creating an Item:
- Go to Menus, select a menu, and then click on the category where you want to add the item.
- Click the
+ Add New
button in the 'Items' column. - Fill out the item's details across four tabs:
- Item Information: Name, description, labels (New, Bestseller), display options (Dine-in, Takeaway), size/unit, prep time, ingredient warnings, and tax settings. You can also mark it as 'Featured' to display on your homepage.
- Price Options: Set one or more prices for different sizes or options (e.g., Small, Medium, Large).
- Modifier Options: Assign specific modifiers to this item. This will override any modifiers set at the category level.
- Localize: Add translations for the item's name and description.
- Click Save.
Managing Items:
- Setting Visibility: Just like categories, you can control when an item is visible on the menu.
- Editing: Click the three dots on an item and select 'Edit' to update any of its details.
- Deleting: Click 'Delete' to permanently remove an item. This action cannot be undone.
- Rearranging: Click and drag the six dots to reorder items within a category.
Pro tip:
Clicking the 'Preview' icon in the upper right corner lets you quickly and easily view your changes. Be sure to click the 'Save' button first to ensure all changes are preserved before entering the preview screen.
