How can I disable the default food image from showing on my menu?
In Menu Tiger, each food item on your digital menu can have an image to make it more appealing and informative for customers. However, if you don't upload an image for a food item, the system can display a default placeholder image instead. This behavior is controlled by the Enable default food image setting.
If you prefer not to show any image when a food item has no photo, you can disable this feature in your settings. Doing so will keep the menu layout clean and free of generic images, allowing your branding and content to take center stage.
Why disable the default food image?
Disabling the default food image is useful when:
- You want your menu to look more polished and consistent.
- You’d rather not display stock or placeholder images for items without photos.
- You are still uploading actual item photos and want a temporary blank space instead of a default image.
Steps to disable the default food image:
- Log in to your Menu Tiger admin panel.
- Navigate to the Settings tab in the left-hand panel.
- Click on the Restaurant section.
- Scroll to the bottom until you see the Enable default food image toggle.
- Turn this toggle off.
✅ By default, this setting is already turned off, which means no default image will be shown unless you enable it manually
What happens when it's enabled or disabled?
- Enabled: If a food item doesn’t have an image, Menu Tiger will automatically display a generic placeholder image for it.
- Disabled: If a food item doesn’t have an image, nothing will be shown in the image space—just the item name, description, and price.
This feature gives you greater control over how your menu appears to customers, especially during the early stages of setup or if you’re intentionally going for a text-only layout.
