How do I change the appearance and preparation times for my Kitchen Display System (KDS)?
This article shows you how to adjust the layout, colors, and the important timer settings on your KDS screen to match your kitchen's needs.
Step-by-Step: Adjusting the Display Settings
- Log in to your MENU TIGER Account: Use your administrator username and password to log into the main MENU TIGER dashboard.
- Find the KDS Section: On the left-side menu of your dashboard, look for and click on the Kitchen Display option.
- Go to KDS Settings: From the main KDS screen (before clicking Open), click the Settings button, found in the left panel.
- Change Display Mode (How Tickets Look): Under the Display Mode section, choose one of the following options:
- Classic: Order tickets will be arranged horizontally (side-by-side) in one row.
- Tiled: Order tickets are arranged top-to-bottom and left-to-right, filling all the available screen space. This allows the most tickets to be shown at once.
- Set Transition Times (Preparation Timers): This section sets the expected time to complete orders, which determines when tickets change color to alert staff. Customize these times for each order type (Dine-In, Takeaway, etc.):
- Caution Time: Enter the normal, expected preparation time (e.g., 5 minutes). When an order reaches this time, its color might change to orange.
- Late Time: Enter the maximum acceptable time (e.g., 10 minutes). When an order exceeds this time, its color will change to red, flagging it as late.
- Adjust Fonts and Colors: Go to the Fonts and Colors section.
- Font Style: Select a font that is easy for all kitchen staff to read quickly.
- Ticket Colors: Customize the colors for each order type (Dine-In, Takeaway) so staff can quickly tell them apart.
- Status Colors: Set the colors for the timer statuses, such as the color for In Progress, Ready, or Late orders.
- Save Your Changes:
- After adjusting any setting (Display Mode, Timers, or Colors), make sure to click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the section.
You have successfully customized the visual appearance and set the urgency timers, helping your kitchen staff prioritize orders correctly.
