How do I turn the special instruction field on or off for customers
The Special Instruction setting allows you to control whether customers can add custom notes or requests when placing their orders through the menu interface.
What It Does
This setting determines if a free-text input field appears on the customer ordering screen for each menu item.
- Enabled (On):
A text box labeled “Special Instructions” appears below the selected food item.
Customers can type custom requests such as:
- “No onions”
- “Extra spicy”
- “Well done”
- “Sauce on the side”
- Disabled (Off):
- The special instruction field is hidden.
- Customers will not be able to add any personalized notes or preparation requests with their orders.
Where to Find the Setting
You can manage this setting per store by following these steps:
- Go to the Stores > Settings in the Menu Tiger dashboard.
- Select the store you want to configure.
- Look for the Special Instruction option.
- Toggle the setting On or Off based on your store’s preference.
Why Use It
- Turn On if your store allows food customization, caters to dietary needs, or wants to offer more personalized service.
- Turn Off if your store prefers fixed menu items, prioritizes speed and standardization, or cannot accommodate special requests.
Troubleshooting
- Always check the store you are interacting with, as the setting is store-specific, specially if you have multiple stores.
- If the customer says the field is not showing, confirm that the setting is turned On in the Store's Settings, and ask the customer to refresh their browser.
- Changes apply immediately and will be reflected in the ordering interface once saved.
