How can I translate or localize my menu items into different languages?
Overview
The Localize feature allows you to translate and customize the names and descriptions of your food menu items into different languages. This helps you provide a multilingual experience for your customers while keeping your brand voice consistent.
What It Does
This tool lets you:
- Edit item names and descriptions in multiple languages
- Provide a seamless experience for customers who speak different languages
- Maintain consistent branding across all translations
Where to Access the Tool
To use the localization feature:
- Go to the Menu section in your Menu Tiger dashboard.
- Select the food item you want to edit.
- Navigate to the Localize tab.
- Enter the translated version of the name and description for the desired language(s).
- Save your changes.
Anywhere you see the 'Localize' tab in the Admin Panel means you can localize that particular item or feature to your desired language(s). That can mean even Home Page, Store details, Categories, Payment methods, Hot actions and Promotions can be localized.
Why Use It
- Offer a better user experience for international or multilingual customers
- Ensure clarity and accuracy in item details across all supported languages
- Customize translations based on regional preferences or cultural nuances
How to troubleshoot issues with localization
- Make sure that you are working within the correct store and menu item.
- Changes in the Localize tab do not overwrite the default language; they only apply when the customer switches languages.
- Cannot find the language in 'Localize' tab? You must first configure at least two languages in your Restaurant Settings:
- Click the gear icon in the upper right
- Navigate to 'Restaurant Settings'.
- In the 'Language' field, select multiple languages from the dropdown.
- Save your changes.
